The Northeast Region is sometimes referred to as "the birthplace of our nation" for many reasons.
1. The Pilgrims landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
2. The District of Columbia (the capital of America) is located in Maryland.
3. The nation's first factories and textile mills started in Lowell, Massachusetts.
The Northeast has 11 states: Maryland, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Delaware, Pennsylvania,
Vermont, New York, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, and New Jersey.
Also, the six-year American Revolution, or the Revolutionary War, was fought in this region.
After that, the Declaration of Independence, written by Thomas Jefferson, declared independence (freedom) from Great Britain, thus forming the United States of America.

My personal opinion on the Northeast region is that it is the most important region (not only to America, but even to my life, as I was born and have always lived in the Northeast!) If you believe there is a better region than the Northeast, do the survey on the home page!
Picture Time!
The Revolutionary War, where the colonists fought against the British for independence and freedom to become their own country and form a democracy rather than having King George III to rule them.
Betsy Ross was said to have sewn this flag of thirteen stars, that stood for the thirteen original colonies inhabited by the pilgrims.
Location time!
Lowell MA, where they started the first textile mills. Young women and girls worked at the mills to make money so they could support their families.
Plymouth MA, where the pilgrims arrived in the new world on the Mayflower in 1620. They landed at Plymouth Rock.
The Capital of America, where Barack Obama lives. In this city is the White House, Supreme Court Building and the Library of Congress.
Fun facts!
1. The 'DC' in Washington DC stands for District of Columbia. In this case, Columbia means Christopher Columbus.
2. Puerto Rico is owned by the United States, so maybe you could call it the fifty-first state?
3. Benjamin Franklin wanted the national bird to be the turkey, but I guess it was a bad idea.
4. Rhode Island is the most crowded state.
